#9 - Thankful Thursday - Happy Spring Break!

Activities for Day #9 Activity #1 - READING Did you finish your good fit book for this week, and complete the writing for the discussion questions? If so, well done! Read for fun today! If not, can you get it done today? Spring break doesn't technically start until 3:15pm, I challenge you to complete this well, and send me a picture!  Remember that the link for the tutorial on this process is under the Home Learning Info tab. I do have specific expectations for this, so please read the note on the inside of your notebook, or watch the video. I'm leaving this Read at Home Bingo card with you. I've said it before, but I like checking boxes, or crossing things off my list. I've printed myself a bingo card and am hoping to get at least one line completed with my boys during the break. I'm also going to try and write the books we read in the squares. Enjoy a rich reading life over your spring break, and use the bingo board if you want to make it extra fun!

Day #8 - You are a Wonder Wednesday

Activities for Day #8 Activity #1 - READING There is no specific reading task today - I just ask that you read for 20-30 minutes minimum. Remember we have great access to online books if you would like to look at Epic, RAZ kids, or audible has lots of books for free right now for students.  Try and answer a few questions to go with your reading. First question, is the text you are reading fiction or non-fiction?  Remember that good readers are thinking the whole time!    Activity #2 - WRITING Today we are going to try and acrostic poem. I've posted some information and pictures of ones below, but you can choose any word you like, and write it down the side of a paper. Then come up with words on sentences that have to do with your main word. Complete this in your writers notebook please, and don't forget to send me a picture when you're done! I can't wait to see what word you use as your inspiration for your acrostic poem. Activity #3 - WORD

I think you can! Good luck, and remember to have fun!  I challenge you to use the PDF that looks like the picture above to check off your work this week! I don't know about you guys, but it makes me feel accomplished and proud when I can check off all my to-do lists. This is your school to-do list for the week! How many check marks can you get? The PDF link is in Dojo, so feel free to download and print it from there! School at Home Checklist Activity #1 - READING Today's reading suggestions: 1. Read some poetry. Remember we are still trying to answer the question.... what is poetry. As you read poetry, think about what is similar between the poems you read. Do they have rhyming? Is the

Day #6 - Marvelous Monday!

Activities for Day #6 These are activities that I suggest students try and accomplish each day. There will typically be a reading, writing, word work, and 2 math activities. I feel like a broken record, but truly do what you can, and aim for the learning to be an enjoyable time. Reach out if you have any questions or concerns! Activity #1 - READING It's a new week! Grab your good fit books from your 'writing about reading' notebook, and get started on book #2. (if you didn't do this last week, just start with #1 and go in order.) I also challenge you to send me a short clip of you reading your book on Monday, and then when you read it the last time through. This will be neat to add to your portfolio as you should improve your fluency throughout the week. Remember to watch the video below if you have any questions about this process. Please try and follow the videos instructions closely.  Info video on  Writing about Reading - Good Fit Books Second reading

Day #4 Thankful Thursday!

Activities for Day #4 These are activities that I suggest students try and accomplish each day. There will typically be a reading, writing, word work, and 2 math activities. I feel like a broken record, but truly do what you can, and aim for the learning to be an enjoyable time. Reach out if you have any questions or concerns! Activity #1 - READING We are nearing the end of the week, which means you should be almost done your first "writing about reading" good fit book. Below is a little video to talk about what I hope and expect you to do with this work. Remember that your goal is to finish just one of these good fit books each week, so I hope you've spread out the work. Maybe today you read the book out loud to someone, or even better, you send me a Dojo portfolio video of you reading the book out loud! Then make sure you have discussed all the questions, and written the answers to at least 2 questions in full sentences, just like I modelled in the video. Info
